Summary

A Bill presented by Richard Harrington MP to create offences and make other provision relating to sub-letting and parting with possession of social housing.

The Bill aims to make it a criminal offence to illegally sub-let a social housing property.  In addition, the Bill will include measures to create effective deterrents against this crime and empower landlords who were defrauded to seek reimbursement. 

Grant Shapps MP, the Minister for Housing, has announced that the Government will back the Private Members' Bill.
