Mental Health (Approval Functions) Act 2012 2012-13
(This Bill is from a previous session)
The Mental Health (Approval Functions) Bill was announced by the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, and published on 30 October 2012. It will apply to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Bill aims to resolve irregularities found in the sectioning of up to five-thousand mental health patients after four of England's Strategic Health Authorities, North East, Yorkshire and Humber, West Midlands and East Midlands, devolved responsibility to local health trusts for the assessing and sectioning of patients.
The Bill is expected to make rapid progress through Parliament.
