Summary
A Bill presented by Lord Saatchi to make provision for innovation in medical treatment.
The Bill aims to ease the process of trialling new medication for cancer patients and to improve upon standard procedure by setting out a strict protocol for doctors to follow, without harming their reputations or being found negligent.
Currently, if a doctor is accused of 'negligence' for failing to provide a patient with proper care, a panel of experts determine whether or not they would have acted in the same way as the doctor. As a result, doctors who want to trial difference medicines, face the risk of losing their job.
