Summary
A Bill to make provision approving for the purposes of section 8 of the European Union Act 2011 certain draft decisions under Article 352 of the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union.
The Bill also aims to change the number of members in the European Commission which is found under Article 17(5) of the Treaty on European Union. Currently, there are 27 members of the European Commission, with each member representing their 'state' or country. As part of the Commission, each member is collectively responsible for drafting legislation and the budget of the European Union, representing the European Union in trade agreements and scrutinising legislation passed through the European Parliament.
The European Union Act 2011 introduced measures to require Parliament to hold a referendum before any transfer of powers between Westminster and Europe.
